Jez has enjoyed a wonderfully diverse career in his 4 (and a bit!) decades on this planet. He brings individuality, (something often lacking in the modern entertainment industry), unique talent and authenticity to everything he does whether singing with a top band, teaching a class or performing in a West End show. He has a rich, Baritone voice, plays the piano and Cello to an exceptional standard and is a truly versatile actor.
A wonderfully musical childhood led to 5 years as a choirboy at Westminster Cathedral Choir School in London. Jez quickly became the leading treble soloist in this world renowned choir and went on to be awarded first place in the prestigious Cathedral Choirboy Of The Year competition which led to various TV appearances and concert dates.
With such salubrious beginnings it was no wonder he would choose a career in performing. After receiving a BAhons in music from Exeter University he was scouted by a top London agent and began working in musical theatre.
In the West End Jez has played roles in Joseph and the amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (New London Theatre), The Far Pavilions (Shaftesbury theatre), Evita (Adelphi), Ghost The Musical (Piccadilly), Sweet Charity (Haymarket), Once The Musical (Phoenix) and Amelie (The Other Palace).
Highlights of regional and touring theatre include Little Shop Of Horrors, Oliver, The Light In The Piazza, Pacific Overtures, Martin Guerre, The Wizard Of Oz, Don Giovanni and Amelie, to name but a few.
When not in theatre productions Jez has performed as guest vocalist in concerts and big band gigs in the UK and around the world. He has featured in original West End Cast Recordings and made up part of the original vocal harmony group The FlyBoys. He has also recorded his own album of swing music called ‘Music For A While’.
During the Last ten years Jez has also developed a passion for teaching singing. He has taught at many of the most respected theatre schools in London and now has his own practice at home in Orpington, London.
Jez is currently working on a new Jazz vocal group reminiscent of The Manhattan Transfer. Watch this space!
